so, what are the recipes for?

November 17, 2008

Lately, I’ve started adding some recipes to this blog. This is because I’ve always had cooking sites, and wanted to add some more exclusive recipes to my personal blog that aren’t anywhere else.

These recipes that will be showing up on here are some of my more favourite recipes that I have picked up over the years and put to good use.

You may have noticed…

Ok, so today I started to redo the theme that this blog is using, it definetly lends itself nicely to what I want to do here, and with a few more tweaks, will be right where I want it.

Some things I’ve done to the theme, was the original twitter feed to the right was javascript based, so I changed it to use PHP and added a caching method to it so that it only updates every hour.

Middle of the month…

September 16, 2008

Ok, so I haven’t made any new posts since the first of September, it’s been a pretty busy month between work, projects and getting things ready to take Kaitlyn on her first trip to Newfoundland next week.

Both ActivityPipe.com and DBStract have been seeing a lot of traffic lately, which is good. A few people making use of the ActivityPipe plugin to display their Activity Streams via wordpress. And for DBStract, lots of people are finding uses for collecting data online.

Working to finish off aslifeis this week before we take our trip. And working out the plan for a new project tracking site that is built off some scripts I implemented a while back for doing project management for myself. But more about that project as time goes.

Welcome to the new blog

August 28, 2008

Ok, so after doing some thinking, I decided to merge most of my blogs into one blog.

Took some doing since they were spread out and using various different blogging systems, but here it is.

Tydeontheweb.com, blogstract.com and phpJedi.com are now under the same roof as RogerStringer.com

Got a few other things in the works, but generally, this blog is set up for a place to talk and post new things that are going on.

dbStract V3 Updates

April 24, 2008

I know, I wanted to finish v3 before now, but in the middle of the redesign, our daughter was born, so I took some time off for that.

Now, I am back to work on dbStract v3, and it is shaping up nicely.

The system is coming together quickly, and there are only a couple things left to do before I take it out of beta.

In the meantime, we’ve got more and more people signing up for dbStract, so I’ll be sending out invites for them to check out the beta of v3 sometime in the next couple weeks.

Activity Streams….

April 16, 2008

Been hard at work on my newest project lately at ActivityPipe.com, it’s a site that lets you build your own activity streams.

You add your various links to it, and it creates a new little activity stream, you can see an example of it here.

There’s still more to do, and the end result will be a wordpress plugin, as well as a couple other plugins for some other sites, but it’s coming together pretty nicely.

Ok, My Bad

April 14, 2008

I fully realize that there’s been a bit of a delay here between updates. Things have been really busy with work, and work, and websites and baby being born.
Will be doing more updates shortly.

dbStract v3

December 27, 2007

The list of new features for dbStract that are currently in development have grown to the point of dbStract getting a new version number.

Originally, this newest update would be dbStract 2.5, but now, it has been officially named dbStract 3.

Some planned features:

  • New Suite of Widgets for embeddng your databases into your websites / blogs.
  • Drag-and-drop functionality for table creation.
  • Improved report creation interface
  • Pre-built templates, we will be adding a new template system where you can select from dozens of pre-built databases and have them added to your account
  • Database styles, customize the look and feel of your databases using our database theme manager.
  • And more, this is just the tip of the iceberg :)

dbStract Updates

December 13, 2007

The last couple days have been spent doing some updates to the user interface for dbStract.com.

We’ve moved from using open source javascript libraries to using our own in-house library, which means a few areas of dbStract has been redone.

Our form validation now uses our library, as well as several other areas.

In the next month or so, we will be getting more features added as well, complete with a whole new suite of tools to use for embedding your databases onto your website seamlessly :)
Basically, gonna be a fun 2008.

Updates and a new site

December 3, 2007

So, we have a new project launching shortly that should be keeping everyone happy when it does.

Also, we have launched ChatPiece.com, which is a plug-and-play chat room widget for creating your own chat rooms to place on existing websites or blogs.

We have other plans for that project soon, but first let’s let people beta test it :)
